ORGANIC KITCHEN GARDEN TRAINING
Shevaroyhills tribal Development Institute (STDi) of SPS India Foundation is known for the training in Nursery among the tribals of the hill. As it trains people in nursery plantation, it also selected few and trained in Organic Kitchen Garden as it is the need of the hour for the people. In view of helping the trainees to have home garden and terrace garden in the grow bags, it organized a training on growing vegetables in the grow bags. Mr. Peter, the horticulturalist trained the people on 26th April 2021. He first explained about the vegetables that can be grown in the hill and the seasons to grow them. Then, he demonstrated the mixing of manure and mud and its ratio. He then explained the method of seeding to the people. It was a practical session with lots of clarifications. At the end of the training, the trainees planted seeds of radish, carrot, beetroot, cabbage and greens. Thus, STDi is reaching out to the people to empower their life to live a healthy life through organic vegetables.
