EXCAVATING THE FOOTBALL SKILLS IN THE TRIBAL YOUTH
Sola football tournament at the Retreat-Don Bosco Yercaud
A football tournament was organized to enhance and equip the lives of the tribal youngsters of Servarayan Hills, at the Retreat Don Bosco, Yercaud on 2nd and 3rd March. The football tournament was inaugurated by R. Gunasekaran, the sub-inspector of Yercaud and facilitated by other honorable guests. There are about 23 teams, who actively participated in the event and exhibited their talents and skills. Furthermore, the referees are invited from Chennai to regulate and evaluate the matches. Undoubtedly, this well-organized football tournament serves as a beneficial means for all the tribal youngsters, from various villages to develop and enhance their lifestyle ethically. Above all, to encourage the youngsters, the best teams are acknowledged, recognized, and rewarded, the team Manjakkutai-B secured first place as winners and was rewarded with Rs. 10,000/- cash, a trophy, and medals to the players. Respectively, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places were rewarded with Rs. 8,000/-, 6,000/- and 4,000, trophies and medals to the players. Similarly, the best teams and the best individual players were also awarded. At the outset, the Sola football tournament, successfully and meaningfully, is organized by the Retreat-Don Bosco fathers, brothers, and the management with the assistance of other good-hearted and generous people. This event, with the right intention, serves as an incentive for the development of the tribal youth.
