STDi on Promoting Nursery Plantations
“Helping one person does not change the world, but it may change the world for that individual.”
Shevaroyhills tribal Development Institute (STDi) of SPS India Foundation reaches out to the tribals of Yercaud and trains them in Nursery Plantations through projects like Nash (Nature….), CALLS 1 (Covid Alternative Livelihood and Living Services) and CALLS 2. It helps individuals to grow plants and sell in REO Nursery, a wing of STDi. In the process of training in Nursery, STDi found Mr. Paramasivam, an interested organic farmer, who produces lots of plants, needing financial assistance to strengthen his Nursery plant production unit. On April 26th 2021, Mr. Paramasivam was giving Rs. 10,000/- to set up his own unit of nursery plantation and me a model for all the tribals of the hill. He and his family thanked SPS & STDi for supporting him and for empowering his nursery. Fr. Raj, the Rector of the Retreat- Don Bosco distributed the Cheque in the presence of Fr. Selvakumar, the Director of Social Work and Fr. Abraham, the Administrator of the Retreat- Don Bosco.
